My Background
I am a self taught artist born and raised in San Jose, California. I have been creating art since the day I picked up a crayon. I was once told that I made my first picture at 8 months and that I was scribbling in my walker at 6 months. I made my first artbook at the age of 3. Throughout my youth I would draw The Sun, The Moon, Planets, Demons, Monsters, Ghosts, Aliens, Angels, Ancient Egypt, The Devil, Family Members, Self Portraits, Scenery, Trees, Lakes, Mountains, Transformers, The X-men and other Marvel Heroes/Villains. In my youth I was obsessed with drawing, so much that it would constantly land me in trouble at school. I would draw all over my assignments and homework. I would constantly be sent outside to write lines as behavioral discipline but would end up drawing instead. I illustrated and published a children’s book at the age of 9 called “The Adventures Of Peter Plum”. During my teenage years I began to make hilarious comics that would bring laughter to family, friends, peers and classmates. Due to a troubled childhood and growing up in a rough neighborhood I became a rebellious teen. This is when I discovered my love for Graffiti Art, Chicano Street Art and Hip-Hop Expressionism. I used art in my teenage years as a big F*** You to an oppressive society that undervalues the Arts. It wasn’t til the age of 19 that I painted something deep and meaningful on a wood board from an old dresser. I was really impressed by the completed result of this painting so I decided to try again on another wood board from the dresser, once again I was impressed. I decided to try canvas and it was love at first stroke. During my 20‘s I was inspired By Nature, Astrology, Mysticism, Spirituality, Politics, Ancient History, Civil Rights, Music, Cosmos, Science, Paranormal, Supernatural, Street Life, Symbolism, & The Unknown. Being of Mexican and Egyptian descent, the Art of The Ancient Mexica, Maya, Huichol, Egyptians, Nubians always caught my eye. Hence, I created a style that blends Graffiti Art, Scenery Art, Cosmic Art, Cholo Art, Political Art, Mystic Symbolism, Ancient Mayan/Aztec Art, Ancient Egyptian Art and Hip-Hop Expressionism together in balanced harmony. I call My Style “Magicism”. Over the years my Magicism has evolved in many ways it’s as if I get more ideas, more advanced skills, and closer to the mastery of my craft the older I get. My Medium
I like to use many mediums to create artwork. On canvas and woodboards I like using acrylics, oils, oil based markers, Acrylic Markers, Waterbased paint markers and spray paint. For glass and metal sheets I use glass paint markers, metal paint, model paint, nail polish, and spray paint. For paper I use pencil, pen, Sharpie permanent markers, sharpie metallics, sharpie highlighters, alcohol markers, colored pencils, pastels, crayons and watercolor markers. I also make sculptures from random items I find on my daily adventures. My process starts from either an idea, a story in my mind, a customer’s request, random flows, channeling energy, or automatic writing. I like to mix mediums, it’s more meaningful to me because I myself am a mixed Medium Art piece designed by The Grand Creator, The Master Artist, The Great Architect Of The Multiverse.
My Inspiration
My Inspiration is God, The Sun, The Mysteries of life, The Civil Rights Movements, Nature, The Cosmos, The Unknown, Magic, Barrio Life & The Struggle. I experienced The Sun give Color to my skin and light up the world around me. I’ve experienced racism and police brutality. I’ve experienced miracles through prayer and faith. I’ve experienced the sightings of extraterrestrial crafts, disembodied spirits, and beings of unknown origins. I’ve experienced Love of the purest form. I’ve experienced darkness and the shadows of wickedness. I’ve experienced nature and it’s incredible beauty. I’ve experienced life through an Artist’s viewpoint. I admire the work of DaVinci, Levi, Dali, Picasso, Alex Grey, Herring and Goya. What keeps me going are my Greatest Inspiration, Greatest Blessings and Greatest Masterpieces I ever created, My Children.
